Ashton works as a membership manager for a non-profit organization and works concurrently, though part-time these days, as a mental health therapist specializing in grief. Her professional background extends to having worked as a research coordinator for over 8 years at a major children’s hospital. Though, having always been fascinated by the brain, her favorite stint as a research coordinator was, unquestionably, when she worked in the department of neurosurgery.

While Ashton has always felt a personal connection to nature and adventure (she partly thanks having a birthday on Earth Day for this), she became even more passionate about challenging herself after discovering adventure racing in 2020. While she still partakes in adventure racing and enjoys the mountain biking segments the most, her more common excursions involve climbing (i.e., flailing around on) the spicy 8s and 9s at Red River Gorge. She also tries to go on a yearly week-long backpacking trip – her favorite so far having been her solo days spent in Grand Teton National Park munching on huckleberries and spotting seven bears.

Ashton is looking forward to her OM involvement as a means to blend personal and professional passions, while expanding OM’s mission, programs, and community of support.
