Adventure with Jen

Weekends once meant rugged trails, gravel crunching beneath Jen's feet, and the joy of exploration with her partner and kids. Then, a spinal cord injury in June 2021 halted her trail running days. Despite setbacks, Jen's resilient spirit drove her towards recovery and adaptive sports, particularly adaptive mountain biking (aMTB).

Guided by Outdoor Mindset's supportive community, Jen found solace in aMTB. With the help of OM Ambassador Peter, she braved the Hydrocut trail network, reigniting her passion for outdoor adventure. This newfound determination led her to her greatest challenge yet—the SBTgrvl race in Steamboat Springs, CO.

Preparations for the race were grueling, especially flying with her wheelchair and adaptive bike. Yet, with meticulous planning and the support of her "famjam," Jen was determined to face each obstacle head-on. From battery swaps mid-race to finding a spot to catheterize, she decided to push through no matter the challenges.

Jen knew the journey ahead wouldn't be easy. But with her teammates by her side, she tackled and finished the SBTgrvl race with her amazing teammate Kate from @allbodiesonbikes. She loved having some downtime to cool off after the race and cheer on all her other teammates, knowing that ANYTHING is possible with a strong community cheering you on!

Jen's story is a testament to the power of the human spirit and the stubborn determination to overcome whatever life throws at you. Despite facing hard things, she embraces life's adventures with open arms, inspiring us all to do the same.
